ROHOL uses only raw materials of the best quality. The logs come from sustainably managed forestry companies in Central and Northern Europe. They are felled and delivered solely in the winter. Start materials come mainly from Austria and from Germany. Apart from our own range of products, veneers are purchased worldwide from competent buying agents.
Only veneer logs of the highest quality are purchased for the production of ROHOL SLICED VENEERS. After they have been cut to size, split into flitches and gently steamed, they are processed in one of the 3 slicers or in the staylog plant to form veneer blanks. After the sliced veneers have been dried and pressed, they are clipped, electronically measured and packed. Half of the ROHOL sliced veneers are further processed in the modern veneer splicing plant to form large-area sliced veneers. Electronically sorted and edge-glued, they are also put together to come onto the market as veneer cut sizes. Since 1997, rotary-cut veneers have been produced in our Ukrainian sister plant.
The edge-glued sliced veneers are glued to carrier materials such as, for example, chipboard, hardboard, MDF, OSB, blockboard or plywood in the modern veneering plant and further processed to form SLICED-VENEERED BOARDS.
For the production of BLOCKBOARD, soft wood planks are split into bars and glued to form cores. Rotary-cut veneers or thin chipboards or hardboards are applied on both sides of these as surface layers.
For PLYWOOD BOARDS veneers are glued crosswise, with the grain direction of the individual veneer layers rotated by 90°. The combination of different materials (aluminium, lead, ABS etc.)
