Less formaldehyde than solid wood

Starting point for this development at ROHOL was the fact, that formaldehyde emissions are extremely rising at increasing room temperatures at glued board-based materials as well as solid wood and statutory E1 emission values are considerably exceeded.
At the favored used specie of wood Hemlock in the sauna building these values, measured at 90 ° C, can rise till ninefold compared at room temperature.
The new ÖNORM M6219-1 for saunas has obtained his validity per first of march 2010.
This new standard was awaited already eagerly from many, because therewith the use of different materials, which are essential in the modern sauna building, is finally permitted.
Also the use of sliced veneered plywoods is regulated in the new standard.
Laminated woods (plywoods), which are used in sauna building, are allowed to show a maximum gas analysis value from 0,4 mg/m2 h formaldehyde, tested at 90° C.
Plywoods with higher emissions at this temperature are not complying with the standard and therefore are NOT allowed in sauna building.
ROHOL has managed to develop now a special plywood:
a.) whose absolutely formaldehydefree glueing also at high temperatures (e. g. 90 °/120 ° C) no formaldehyde, isocyanate or biozid emits to the environment air.
b.) which trough special construction and glueing even significantly less formaldehyde emits as solid wood and this at temperatures up to 120 ° C.
This ground breaking development will revolutionise not only the sauna building, but also become important for a great variety of other sensitive application areas of wood such as nursery, schools official buildings, and other more.
These innovative panel products are delivered sliced veneered in 100 different species of wod or covered with HPL/CPL decks.
