Actually, only the cutting angle changes. But it creates a whole new perspective of the wood. End grain – also called end grain discs or wood discs – is created when you cut a log across its length.
Atelier 1 Rectangles – equal in size
Consistent yet lively is the look that this variant in end grain oak creates – joined together in rectangles of equal sizes.
Atelier 2 Rectangles – different sizes
Irregular yet lively is the look that this variant in end grain oak creates – joined together in rectangles of different sizes.
Atelier 3 Rectangles – milled
End grain disc segments are carefully placed against each other. The gaps in between are then milled out.
Atelier 4 Segments
Loose end grain disc segments are randomly placed against each other and glued.
Atelier 5 End grain logs – large
Larger end grain disc segments are randomly placed against each other in curved shapes.
Atelier 6 End grain logs – small
Smaller end grain disc segments are randomly placed against each other in curved shapes.

The selection leaves nothing to be desired, with many other design options arising from the different configurations of the end grain elements – whether as a whole disc, as a sub-segment or in rectangles.
